Our Founder, Elf Patsy really gets into the spirit of Christmas at this week's BNI networking meeting
Patsy the Elf at the front receiving Christmas shoe boxes filled with some wonderful Christmas gifts for our young people.
These lovely people are some of the Bourne BNI Business networking group.
This group meet for breakfast every Thursday morning and support the Elf, our Founder Patsy, and our young people.
A big thank you to everyone at Bourne BNI for their continued support and generosity, it really is appreciated.
Rachel, our CEO, received Christmas goodies from the Chair of the parents association of Pangbourne College this week. The generosity from local businesses really does go along way in making Christmas special for our resident young people.
Thanks again to everyone who continue to support us and help us to bring positive change to the lives of our young people.
Patsy Stone, co-founder, tells us all the story of the charity house Christmas cake from a few years ago. A lovely gesture that didn't quite go according to plan!

Want to help us make the Young People's Christmas Day meal super special this year?
A donation of a Christmas cake (bought or made!), Christmas Chocolate Log, mince pies or puddings of some sort, would be really lovely and go down very well across our two charity houses in Newbury Berkshire. All donations are very gratefully received and we thank you in advance for your generosity. Best wishes, Patsy x

I thought I would share a story from Christmas a few years ago.
As some of you know we have a live in more mature person living with our Young People. We had just taken on a mature lady who’s CV said she could amongst everything else Cook! Apparently she was a good cook and cake baker. A real Mary Poppins! She requested that as a team building exercise she bake a Christmas cake with the Young People.
I purchased the ingredients and let her borrow my cake tin. When I called round I was greeted by very excited Young People. Come and look at our Christmas cake. As I entered the kitchen our new person announced. I hope its ok as I didn’t know how to work the oven! So I grilled it for 3hrs!
My heart sank to my boots. When I peered into the tin. It was more like a very flat burnt fruity pizza. They marzipan and iced this flat hard crust. Even decorated it!
I purchased them a shop cake as a backup just in case they couldn’t bite into the home made cake. After Christmas they were all very grateful for my cake gift to them.
Needless to say unfortunately there wasn’t much that this lady could do so we had to let her go.
It was great to be a part of the Hamstead Marshall Christmas Market this year. Patsy and John together with one of our lovely volunteers, Rose, were there manning our stall, raising awareness of our charity, Young People and Children First (YPACF), and the work we do for them. Plus we had some fun running our Tombola, which also helped to raise some funds for YPACF.
Our young people will each be able to now have a comfy new bed to sleep on, thanks to CDKGlobal in Hungerford.
Patsy and John our founders were presented with a cheque for £500 from Paul Trincas President of Thatcham Rotary. It was presented to them after a nice evening meal with the members of the rotary club and a presentation given by Patsy on behalf of Young People and Children First. A big thankyou to the Rotary Club for the very kind donation, it will go towards supporting the young people with in our charity.
We attended an event last Saturday in Hungerford to show our appreciation for a donation of £500 which we recently received from Hungerford Town Council, which was also doubled through The Good Exchange. Patsy had the opportunity to do a small presentation about the charity and the work we do with care leavers and homeless young people, before the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hungerford handed out the certificates.
The Team @ Young People & Children First
We are a mixture of volunteers, employees and Trustees who want to share all our fabulous news to all our amazing supporters.
