Our young people have begun work preparing the allotment for planting this years' produce.... and it's looking really good, but we'd love your input.
With the help of Lorraine, our Operations Manager, the young people headed to the allotment the other day to start weeding and digging so to prepare the ground for this years produce. As you can see from the photos below, they're doing a great job as it's looking really tidy and weed free - for the time being! Our charity allotment is a great way for our young people to learn how to work as a team as well as learn to be a little self-sufficient.
The big question now is, what shall we plant this year and when? Any budding gardeners out there fancy sharing your top tips with our young people for how they get the most out of their allotment with minimum input? What's the best soil preparation? What are the "in" things to plant this year? And perhaps what is best to plant when, for all year round produce?
Come and inspire our young people and share your thoughts and advice, they'll love it! And to be honest, we'll all learn a bit along the way too I'm sure :)
