We've had a busy couple of months at our charity allotment...
As you can see from the photos, the young people have been working hard both on our plot and the communal areas, in support of the allotment community as a whole and their doing a great job.
Working on our charity allotment is a great way for our young people to learn how to work as part of a team as well as learn to be self-sufficient.
Our newest volunteer Jason Lilly has been putting a false wall and shower in the bathroom at Rebecca house. He is doing a wonderful job. We are very lucky to have him on board and are very grateful to him.
John and Patsy were at the Windsor Great Park fun day on Sunday. It was a great day, the weather was good, they made some good contacts and it was great for raising awareness for the charity.
John and Patsy attended the Queens Garden Party on Tuesday. They enjoyed a wonderful day and were very lucky with the weather as it was sunny all day.
Thank you to Waitrose Thatcham and all Waitrose customers that voted for our charity to receive a donation of £604 from Community Matters. This will help us to support the young people at our charity and is very much appreciated by everyone at YPACF.
Some girls from Down House School recently organised and put on a concert in aid of our charity. The girls all aged between 16/17 years old, put on an amazing show which was very well organised.
They managed to raise £254 for the charity which was presented to John and Patsy by Jane who organised the whole concert. A massive thank you to everyone who organised and took part in the show.
"We are so happy to be supporting such a wonderful cause, and we really hope that our donations will make a difference! We had lots of fun putting the show together and have all gained so much experience too". - The girls from Down House School.
John and Patsy were invited to the Thatcham Mayor making ceremony on Sunday.
Ellen Crumbly was voted in as the Mayor for a second year. Each year the Mayor chooses two charities as her charities for the year. All fund raising events she attends over the year and the money raised at these events is shared between her two charities at the end of the year.
We are very lucky and happy to say that Ellen has chosen our charity to be one of her charities of this year....
To Amdocs our new supporters...
Recently a team of workers from Amdocs helped our charity to start a massive clear out of our new property, this took place in one day and what a difference they made.
We are all extremely grateful to everyone who came along on the day and worked so hard, it was heart-warming to see them in action and how much they put into helping us!
Information on our new property to follow soon...
We were at Crafty Craft on Monday 1st and we managed to raise £168 from our tom-bola stall... A massive thank you to everyone who helped out on the day and to everyone who supported us as well.
Our new resident has come a long way in six weeks, with the help and support offered by the public and our charity…
He had been living on the streets in a tent for ten months...he now has a safe and secure place to live with support, and has managed to secure full-time employment.
He has surprised everyone with his determination to move on and gain his life back, we will continue to support this young man as he goes from strength to strength…
“I thought no one would give me a chance to change my life around and I am so grateful to be given this opportunity” - J.H.
